I've decided to pack up and move, because Diaryland is a big pain! That and with Blogger, people can use bloglines to see when I update. We'll see how it goes!

Took a walk at the bog at lunch with a co-worker. I saw tadpoles and cute little turtles! It's nice to find someone who also enjoys brisk walks. I didn't feel that a half hour hike was a satisfying enough workout for today, though. It's so nice out, I think I'll go home and run down to the train station and back. It'll be a good challenge to try to run it faster. M. is sick so it's just me in the sneakers today.

I've decided to really make an effort to cut back on weekend eating, which I think is a major barrier to losing any weight. I mean, I'll be a complete angel all week and then load up on pizza and beer and greasy breakfast food. And then wonder why my scale doesn't budge. Hmm. Time for change.

Now coveting:

A pair of blue and grey (or maybe orange and grey) Tsub0's. So cute and sporty. Look, the ovals amidst the nifty camo pattern on the soles are to massage pressure points on your feet. Argh. I must have them.

Well I never got the chance to run yesterday. We went to make some returns and exchanges on wedding gifts, so by the time we got back it was too late. We ate at the Chee$ec@ke F@ct0ry last night at the mall. That place is notorious for huge portions of fatty food. Well, I am very proud to say I had the portabella mushroom burger, and it was delicious! I tried some of my husband's pot pie, and I was glad I picked the mushroom sandwich.

I got out and ran this morning, however. It was a little cold, but it was an easy run. I think because my last few runs have been either interval training or running with M., who runs faster than I do, loping along by myself down a flat road didn't seem like that big of a challenge. I ran for half an hour, then walked for about 10 minutes. It felt great.

I'm eating the best salad for lunch. (I almost always eat lunch from the salad bar at work, which is improving.) Today they had pickled jalapeos, so I took a little of those and added romaine lettuce, tomatoes, shredded carrots, black olives, broccoli, chicken, some shredded cheddar and caesar dressing and a few bacon bits. Oh my gosh, so delicious. I've never had salad with a kick to it before. I think I will try this again.

Yesterday, I ran for 20 minutes outside with my husband (wierd to call him that now), who runs faster than I do. So I was pushing myself, but didn't get any cramps. We're going again after work, even if it rains.

Yesterday started out great food-wise, but ended up in a mess of wings and beer and no workout. That and my team lost.

It's beautiful outside today. 70 degrees and blindingly sunny. I'm going to attempt my first outdoor run of the season after work. Like I mentioned last year, I discovered a perfect 3-mile loop that takes me through some very nice areas. It is sort of hard because there are a couple hills. We'll see how I do! I have to finally get a sports watch so I can keep track of my running time. Can you believe I don't have one?

Yesterday's workout: 5 min. running at 7.5mph, 3 min. walking, 3 min. running at 7.5mph, 5 min. walking, 15 min. alternating 1-min. walks at 4mph and runs at 7.5mph

Ok if that isn't a confusing description, I don't know what is. Basically I'm trying to use interval training to work up to a better endurance. I want to be faster and not get cramps. I want to run outdoors with ease.

Yesterday's workout: 40-minute hike during my lunch hour at a forest preserve, very hilly terrain. Totally awesome weather and I can't wait to go again.

Well, I was going to go to the gym today but I'm still so sore from my hike that I think I'll skip it! Sometimes your body needs a rest. I was thinking of swimming, since it's more for the arms, but I just think I'll give myself a day to recuperate. This is the kind of slacking I was talking about, people. Someone give me a kick in the ass please.

At least eating has been good today. I'm working at shaving off calories where I can, smaller meals, small snacks between meals. Just trying harder. That kind of stuff.

Yesterday's workout:

  • 20 min. running at 6mph
  • 10 min. running at 5.5mph
  • 5 min. walking at 3.5mph

I was just happy to be able to keep up a run for 30 minutes yesterday with no serious cramps. I did pretty well eating yesterday, too. I just need to find places to drop calories.

Been worrying a lot about the idea of "letting myself go" now that I'm married. I have a really fantastic body image thanks to a husband who is wild about me. After working out like crazy for the couple months leading up to my wedding, I proceeded to exercise exactly twice during my honeymoon (once in the resort's gym, once was a 1 1/2-hour hike up two mountains), and eat whatever I wanted whenever. I proceeded to not weigh myself since I've been back, but I know my pants are more snug than they were, knowing I weigh probably 5lbs. more than I did when I left and it ain't muscle. And the thing is, I still feel hot. When I've been at my leanest, it was because I was so seriously dissatisfied with myself for whateveer reason that I went hardcore to shape up. So now that I'm happy, where am I going to find the motivation to eat healthy and be in the gym like I'm supposed to?

I worked out one day last week, Wednesday, and forgot to write it down. Basically I did my usual 5-min. warmup walk on the treadmill at 4mph, then ran 15 minutes at 6mph, walked 5 minutes at 4mph, then did 1-minute alternate intervals of running at 7.5mph then walking at 4mph for about 10 minutes. It was a good workout but I'm sad that I lost my ability to run 3 miles without cramping.

I'm going to try again today with the running. If I keep working at it, eventually I will get back to where I was.

Breadcrust's Vegas Wedding:

(click the picture to make it bigger)

That about sums it up! This picture will only be up for a limited time, but I thought you guys should get to see. A good post to start off March when it's almost over now, don't you think?

*Many thanks to Warchild for the design inspiration.
